    Epic Migration

    The Humpback whale is truly a miracle in oceanic migration of any species on earth.

    The epic migration is over 13,000 kms without feeding relying on fat stores from Antarctica to the Kimberly’s and return, mother’s with calf in tow nurturing them all the way.

    Augusta is a beautiful coastal town located in Australia’s South West region and has a rich history intertwined with the migration of whales. Cape Leeuwin is a pivot point for the northern Humpback Whale migration as it is the most south westerly point of Australia. The sighting grounds are within Flinders Bay as the whales hug the coastline on their journey north providing the ideal location for whale watching in sheltered and protected waters

    Ride the Jetty Train

    Begin your journey aboard our solar-powered Ray White Stocker Preston Express, our charming red Jetty Train that whisks you 1.7 km across the sparkling waters while you listen to the history of our Jetty and the Geographe Bay. Round trip journeys take 45 minutes. Our train is accessible for those with wheelchairs or walkers, we just ask that you advise us of this when booking. It’s an exceptional way to fully immerse yourself in the surrounding beauty. With hourly departures, this is an adventure you won’t want to miss.

Waterproof copies of the map can be purchased from the Interpretive Centre, helping you navigate the sculptures scattered over a 200m area.

    Vasse Felix was established in 1967 by regional pioneer Dr Tom Cullity. Vasse Felix is Margaret River's founding wine estate and is regarded as one of Australia's draw-card winery destination experiences. 

     

    Vasse Felix owns three specialty vineyards on exceptional sites throughout the region, including Margaret River’s oldest.     A new Interpretive Centre at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse in Augusta  is now open Housed in one of the original lighthouse keeper cottages, and spread over the four main rooms, the exhibition shares the fascinating stories of the families who once lived at the tallest lighthouse in mainland Australia through animated film, interactive technology and artefacts.

  • Contos Beach

    Unlike some other remote coastal access spots, Conto's is accessible to all vehicles. A walking trail loop that begins at Conto's car park takes in a vivid section of the Cape to Cape track: swimming in summer is a pleasure, but hiking in the cooler months is equally as connective to the landscape. A small point break attracts surfers less fixated on high-performance waves. Rockpools for exploring and rock formations for clambering offer kids at least as much entertainment as the traditional bucket and spade.

    Margaret River Farmers’ Market is an authentic farmers’ market. Our community has access to local, fresh and seasonal food directly from the people who have grown or produced that food every Saturday morning.

    Margaret River Farmers’ Market connects hard working farmers to consumers, it connects consumers to their food source and the seasons; it allows a fantastic space and place for the community to connect every week.
